Journey times
When travelling on a long car journey, we have to stop every so often to fill up with fuel and have a rest.
When flying very long distances to other countries, aircraft have to stop and refuel, allow changes of passengers, crew and take on more food and other provisions. Unlike in a car, the distance aircraft travel is much greater and this means flying through different time zones.
If you want to work out how long a journey is going to take from one side of the world to the other, you will need to work out how long each part of the journey will take including stop overs and work out the local time zones.
The journey times activity asks you to fill in the time it takes to travel from place to place on a journey. Click on the flight times button to get a table showing the flight times.
You will need:
- The Flight Times Calculation Record sheet
- Your completed Times Zones Sheet
Remember, all the times shown are local times and you need to work out the GMT equivalent.
