Computer disks
Floppies
Keep separate disks for each subject: it's easier, and safer.
That is, one disk for English, one for French, one for Physics, and so
on.
You should also give your work filenames that are easy to remember.
A 3.5" floppy disk has a storage capacity of 1.4MB - enough for
three full length books.
But graphics can take up an enormous amount of disk space. A single A4
colour picture could fill one disk.
Hard disks
Saving your work onto a hard disk may be convenient, but it's very dangerous.
You can easily lose all your work if the disk crashes.
Even if you do your work on the hard disk, back-up your work onto a floppy
disk.
This can also protect you against viruses, power cuts, and deleting your
work by accident.
All this is especially true if you are sharing a network in school.
