  Mis-reading instructions

It's easy to mis-read instructions - especially in exams when you are working under pressure.

Questions which give you EITHER/OR options can often seem difficult.

So too can 'Discuss with reference to two or more examples'.

There's a danger of writing too much - or too little.

Difficult example

It is not easy to see what is required in the following question.

QUESTION: "Explain the reasons why any two or more Romantic writers were led to embrace a position of either political conservatism or Christian morality."

The number of examples to be dealt with is 'two or more'. This means you could write about three or four.

But should all the chosen writers illustrate 'political conservatism', should they all illustrate 'Christian morality' - or is a mixture of both possible?

The question does not make this clear. It would be possible to answer with either of these interpretations.
